PSD on Wednesday 6th on December 17 in Masiriba Village, Kiboga

JOIN US TO COMMEMORATE PATIENT SOLIDARITY DAY SCHEDULED FOR WEDNESDAY 6TH DECEMBER 2017 AT ST. JAMES C.O.U HEALTH CENTER IN MASIRIBA VILLAGE, KIBOGA DISTRICT FROM 9.00AM – 4.30 PM    

The event is organized by the Uganda Alliance of Patients Organizations (UAPO) with World Health Organization (WHO), National Drug Authority and the Ministry of health as official partners.

PSD is an annual event that brings together patients, carers, patient organizations and key healthcare stakeholders in unity. The major aim is to raise awareness of the critical role and meaningful involvement of patient’s in Health care; and speaks with one voice, regardless of disease condition, religion or nationality. It recognizes that all patients share common issues and concerns. It has been commemorated since 2011 in 5 districts namely; Kampala, Wakiso, Luwero, Mukono and Mityana.  

Theme : Patient Empowerment

Uganda Alliance for Patients Organizations (UAPO) members include; Community Health & Information Network(CHAIN) as the lead organization) and secretariat, Epilepsy Support Association Uganda (ESAU), Sickle Cell Association Uganda (SAU), Uganda Women’s Cancer Support Organization (UWOCASO),  Joyce Fertility Support Centre Uganda (JFSCU), National Organization of People Living with Hepatitis(NOPLHB),The Aids Support Organization ( TASO), Uganda Network of AIDS Service organizations(UNASO) and National Care Center (NACARE).

Patient Solidarity Day will bring together all key healthcare stakeholders from the public and private sector, NGOs, CBOs, Health professionals, academic institutions, religious, political, local leaders, Media and the general public. We expect about 1000 people to attend the event.

Activities for the day will include among others; Health Camp providing health  services on site e.g., Sickle cell screening, cancer screening, HIV Counseling and Testing, Hepatitis B screening, Diabetes and high blood pressure screening dental services, testimonies, health talks on family planning, safe use of medicines, and Non Communicable Diseases. Healthcare for general diseases will be provided. Patient organizations, partners and sponsors of the event will showcase their work. Music dance drama will also be a major part of the event where people will learn as they enjoy.

All partners’ logos will appear on all event materials including banner and press release.
